[/b] a vicious war with a questionable origin pressed in on the Kingdom of Northwind from every side, forcing the king to make a drastic decision. The leaders of the land, together with the king, sent a hand-picked colony of their most trusted men and women from every division through a portal and into a new world in order to preserve their people.
The strange new world seemed to welcome them with open arms. Not only did the remains of a city lay a foundation for establishing their new home, but the ripe land was already surrounded by a formidable stone wall. The colony, called The Settlement, wasted no time building a new home. Months after their arrival they sent a group over the wall. The group never returned. The initial alarm had settlers calling for the portal to be opened again and for the people to return to their homeland. Better the devil you know... Reopening the portal, however, wasn't an option. The Settlement resolved to press on, only with a new stipulation: no one goes outside of the wall.
Today, five years later, the portal was opened again. Not to take people home, but to bring a new wave of Northwinders. The war at home rages on. This new world, even with the dangers beyond the wall, seems to be the kingdom's only chance for survival. This time instead of sending their loyal and capable, the kingdom has plucked able-bodied youth. They do not only want to survive, but they also wish to thrive. These youth, however, in the two weeks they have been there, have already proven to be unprepared, reckless, and even rebellious.
Tension between the first and second waves is rising.
The older are questioning the wisdom of the Father Kingdom.
The young are questioning the true purpose of the wall.
The survival of a people group perches delicately on the edge of the settlement and the rainforest.
